Climb Torridon

Torridon is a small village and glen in the heart of Wester Ross, North West Scotland. It is surrounded by steep mountains, craggy hillsides and sea cliffs.

To the north lies the great wilderness of the Fisherfields and just over the sea lies the Isle of Skye. Here at Climb Torridon we offer bespoke guided adventures and instructional courses for hill walkers, mountaineers and rock climbers in this fantastic area.

Mountains such as Liathach, An Teallach, and The Skye Cuillin offer rocky scrambles in exposed positions with big drops all around. Other hills in the area offer remote journeys into wilderness. They form a landscape where you can get close to nature and learn about yourself. The crags around the coasts, glens and corries form some of the best rock climbing in Scotland, a fantastic setting to learn the key skills for being a rock climbing or mountaineer.  From winter into spring snow lies in the cories and on the high summits creating stunning vistas and conditions to test yourself against.

We specialise in mountaineering, rock and winter climbing in the incredible landscape. Our aim is to bring enjoyment and to help visitors get the most out of this fantastic area during their stay.

We are a small family run business, living locally in the small village of Gairloch. Ollie, our lead guide and joint founder, holds the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualification. This is the highest level qualification available for mountaineering in the UK and Scarlet is also an experienced outdoor practitioner and Mountain Leader.

Being a conscious traveller means that you’re someone who cares about your surroundings, the people, the places and the natural environment. We do too. We’re proud to be supporters of the West Ross Biosphere and we aim for our guided experiences not just to be about the activity but to be about bringing you to a place and helping you enjoy your stay there. We would encourage you to use local shops and facilities to support the communities. We can point you in the direction of some great local food, accommodation and other activity providers. Not only does this support the local economy but it also is the best way to enjoy your holiday and have a truly unique experience.

As a family run company we know how important the future is. We want this fantastic location to thrive for generations to come. Where possible we; repair and resole our clothing and footwear, and use environmentally friendly alternatives. We’re happy to provide advice to help you do the same.

So if you’re new to ‘bagging munros’ and want a guide for the most challenging peaks right through to if you’re a seasoned hand looking for advice on the best scrambles and climbs in Torridon we can help. You’ll be getting a knowledgeable, experienced and qualified instructor who is an expert in their craft. Most importantly you’ll get to experience the best this fantastic area has to offer.
