23 Jun Inverness Castle Experience whisky design featuring Rose Window shortlisted in Scottish Design Awards
The Inverness Castle Experience’s bespoke whisky has been shortlisted in the packaging category at the Scottish Design Awards.
The ‘Seanchaidh’, from the Gaelic for ‘storyteller’, is a bespoke Highland single malt scotch whisky crafted by the team behind The Inverness Castle Experience.
A limited number of bottles of the exclusive whisky were sold at Inverness’s Victorian Market last December.
The packaging was designed by Inverness-based creative agency Dynam, in collaboration with Sally Robertson from the Own Label Company, who sourced the Highland whisky from a renowned distiller.
This year’s Scottish Design Awards has seen a record number of entries.
Michael Golding, board chairman at High Life Highland which is involved in developing the castle, said: “This whisky embodies everything the castle stands for – connection, culture and the spirit of the Highlands. Dynam understood our vision perfectly and the design is more than packaging – it’s part of the experience.
“We’re thrilled to see Seanchaidh recognised in such a competitive field.”
David MacGregor, creative director at Dynam, said: “The design presents a unique double-sided wrap-around label. As the consumer handles the bottle and explores the design, the image of the Castle’s Rose Window is revealed on the inside of the label, inviting discovery with every turn and sip.”
The nomination comes ahead of the attraction’s long-anticipated opening later this year.
The attraction is expected to be a key development within the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal that aims to stimulate sustainable economic growth across the region.
Councillor Ian Brown, Highland Council’s Inverness leader and co-chair of the castle project delivery group, said: “Dynam’s design captures the spirit of the Highlands perfectly, and we’re proud to see it gaining the national attention it deserves.
“Being shortlisted for a Scottish Design Award is a fantastic recognition of the creative talent behind The Inverness Castle Experience.”
The Scottish Design Awards ceremony will take place this Wednesday in Glasgow, where winners from a broad range of disciplines will be celebrated.
